Reviews and research lead me to OCC. I was impressed with the stories of previous patients and amazed at the online reviews I read. I was and still am impressed with the support group that answered so many repetitive questions I’m sure.

My whole life has been a life of yo-yo dieting, like so many others. At my highest scale weight I rang in at 278, I didn’t get on a scale after that but I am sure I probably tipped out at close to 300 at some points in my life. I can say looking back on things that all my previous weight loss attempts was practice for life after this surgery. I’ve made it to the point in my journey that I usually quit or think I’ve got the weight loss under control until I slowly slip back into old habits time and time again. Today I am 10.5 months post op and I have reached OCCs weight goal they gave me. I followed their diet closely, not perfectly but pretty well. I told myself coming into this that I’m only willing to do what I am willing to do, so those are the things I do and am consistent with, things like meal prep, core exercises because I have no desire to go to a gym. I started back a long lost love of running that I found on one of my previous weight loss times so many years ago. I quit beating myself up for not eating the best always, I just pick up on my next choice of being the better choice. I love the energy I have and the zest for life has returned. I can’t repeat the statement of “I should’ve done it sooner” enough. OCC far exceeded my expectations from the moment I first reached out to them. The care I received at OCC far surpassed anything at any US hospital I had been a patient at and this was during the height of Covid. I’m so thankful for the stories like this one, they are what convinced me that I too could take my life back. Nothing I now dream feels impossible and that’s happiness.
